Holidays and vacations without beloved pets puts a damper on our time off. Taking your pet with you and your family lessens the worry being miles away from your fur darlings. Settling on when and where to travel is easy, its the mode of travel which takes longer to decide. Backed by complaints to several airlines and records of pet death during travel, it is advised to stick to air and sea travel.
Pet air travel is possible if the airline allows pets in carriers to board as hand carry items. There are several restrictions to the pet's size, weight and age though. If all is well, and you get your pet traveling with you as hand baggage, be sure to nourish and send your pet to potty before boarding with it. It would also help to refresh its obedience and association training. The plane will be boarded by a number of people of all race and sizes so its best your pet has a built-in tolerance before the trip.

Book flight early in the morning or late at night, this ensures your pet will not be exposed to scorching afternoon temperatures in the cargo bay.
Book direct flights only. Having to check pets in over again at a stop over will only waste time and pose a threat to your pets safety and welfare. Besides if luggage can be displaced due to plane transfers, what's more they could end up in another continent because of an airline fowl-up.
Obtain an airline approved pet crate, the regulations for the crate comply to the precautioned wear and tear limit.
When putting your pet in cargo, it would be ideal to be able to be there while it's being loaded on to the plane. The presence of a pet owner often enlists better care and leaves negligent airport personnel on their toes.

Be warned that several incidents may go on in the cargo area: heat may be unbearable, luggage can fall over the carriers if your pet is the only one booked for pet cargo, emergencies are not addressed like choking and air travel sickness. For your pet's sake keep their trips safe for them.
